Eight rooms, all different
Not a design decision, just how it turned out. Each room has its own character and its own name, and none of them looks like a hotel room with a number on the door. There is the one with the old timber, the one with the tub, the one where the light arrives very early. If you have a preference, say so when you book: here that is possible.
The morning light
A lake at 1,100 metres does something that does not happen on the plain: early on the water is completely still, and for about an hour it becomes an exact mirror of the spruces on the far shore. Then a light air gets up and it is over. If you wake in time you see it from the window without getting out of bed. If not, breakfast is a decent consolation.
Breakfast has no parade ground
We serve it unhurried, with what is around here: milk and cheese from the mountain dairies of the Alpe Cimbra, proper bread, cakes that change. Then, if you want, you go out
The advantage of being on the shore is that everything starts here. The walks begin at the door, so do the bike loops, and the beach is just below. But nobody is making you: the jetty with a book is a legitimate plan, and people who choose it rarely regret it.
