What it means
Charme is a word
that sounds different here.
On the Alpe Cimbra charme is not a crystal chandelier. It is the rustle of the woods at seven in the morning, still water, and things done well by people who have always done them.
And retreat is not an escape: it is stopping the running. The lake helps — no waves, no hurry, and after a while it rubs off on you.
Here the three things that usually sit in three different places sit in the same one: a charming B&B, a zero-kilometre bistro and a private beach. You don't need the car to change chapter.

In summer the clouds are mirrored in it, in autumn the woods catch fire, in winter it falls silent under the snow. From its shores start larch trails, e-bike rides and roads to the Cimbrian villages.
