What to do on the Alpe Cimbra in September: events from the lake

September is when the Alpe Cimbra catches its breath. Summer closes, the colours start to shift while the woods are still green, and the paths belong again to whoever is walking them. For a lot of people it is the best month to come up, and it is also when the most interesting things happen.

The lake, into mid-month

The season at Lake Lavarone does not end with August: the first two weeks of September are often the best of the year. The water keeps the heat it has collected, the days are still long, and you find a spot without effort. Our beach closes in mid-September.

Music most evenings, in the first week

Note d'Autore — Risonanze d'estate

1 to 6 September, every evening at 9pm, at Lavarone. Six consecutive nights, a few minutes from the lake. In the same week the Centro Congressi hosts a children's choir campus, which closes on Sunday 6 at 11am with the final concert, L'ultima nota.

Incontri d'autore 2026

1, 2 and 3 September at 5.15pm, Centro Congressi, Lavarone. Author talks and conversations; on 3 September the event moves to the library hall.

Alpitudini

Daily until 12 September, from 5pm, across the Alpe Cimbra: talks and music at altitude. The high point comes at the end: Saturday 12 September at 9pm, at the Palaghiaccio in Folgaria, Cisco in concert with the Reduci Tour 2026. Stefano Bellotti, for thirteen years the voice of Modena City Ramblers, on memory, resistance and songs. Free entry, booking required: about twenty minutes by car from Bazzario.

Two to put in the diary

La Contesa dela Pult, sixth edition

Saturday 5 September from 10am, at Malga Millegrobbe. The contest between the mountain dairies over pult, the poor man's dish of these plateaus. You eat, you watch, you spend the day at altitude: one of those events that explains the Alpe Cimbra better than any brochure.

La Grande Sfilata della Brava Part

Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, at Folgaria. The biggest event of the late season on the plateau: The Return of the Witch and the Magic of Alpine Traditions, two days of sound, colour and food that peak on Sunday 27 with the parade from Costa into the centre of Folgaria. It draws people from across Trentino: if you are here that weekend, set off early and expect traffic.

If you are here with children

Soto al Croz teaching farm: open through September, 10am on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 2.30pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. Animals, dirty hands, no screens.

Chess at the Lavarone library: afternoons and evenings to learn or play, running to the end of the month. Useful to know when it rains.
